Use the built-in keyboard when possible, or copy any Unicode emoji from this site. Exact menus can vary by software version and device maker.

Apple SupportOpen any typing field, tap Emoji, choose one or more characters, then send. Gboard can also search emoji and switch keyboard languages.
Google Gboard HelpEnable the toolbar in Settings › General management › Samsung Keyboard settings, then use Emoji, Stickers, GIFs, or Clipboard from the toolbar.
Samsung SupportPlace the cursor in a text field and press the Windows key plus period. Search for an emoji, or switch to GIFs, kaomoji, and symbols.
Microsoft SupportOpen the Character Viewer with Fn/Globe + E or choose Edit › Emoji & Symbols. Search by a word such as “heart” or “laughing face.”
Apple SupportUse the emoji button inside WhatsApp or your Windows or Mac emoji shortcut. A copied Unicode emoji can also be pasted directly into a chat.
Open WhatsApp guideYes—you can copy the Unicode character. No—you cannot force Android to display Apple’s artwork as editable text. The receiving phone or app chooses its own design for that character.
